What's up with Garret?

If anyone was wondering what's going on with Garret Guilliams I've got news for you. Straight from the savage's mouth:

"Umm. I guess you already know about the Rochester thing. haha. Just been riding/working on the trails with Adam and my friend Craig (doing superman and no hander). And I got some clips in the newest props on the FBM/Belmar contest part."

So what is the "Rochester thing"? Garret has decided to make the move to Rochester, NY in a few weeks. He'll be living with a bunch of riders in a big ol' house which should give me plenty of stories to post on the site.

Team Rat Shit Sighting

I was digging around the CREDENCE site when I stumbled across this picture of James P. Nutter.

Lou and Geoff met Nutter when he was on a Faction BMX trip down South, featured in issue 19 of Faction. Also on that trip was Derek Girard, Justin Brace, Snotty and Randy Mueller. Over the last 3 or 4 years these guys have become pretty good friends of the Savage Crew, and Lou and Geoff have made an annual pilgrimage to the Northeast each summer to ride trails and pass a good time.

As this year's summer comes to a close the Savages are once again gearing up to make the trek to PA and the surrounding areas. We'll have updates from the road in the next few weeks so keep checking the site for tall tales from the trip.

Music Stuff

Hey guys, just a random post. A great band named Lymbyc Systm is coming through Baton Rouge in a few weeks. These dudes make amazing music and are really interesting to watch. If you wanna check them out click HERE.

They are playing at Baton Rouge's Spanish Moon on Wednesday, September 19th. If you are around make sure you check em out. They have been approved by David Gamble so you know they are tiiiigggghhhttt.

Shortly after that is the Wall of Sound Festival in Fort Worth, Texas. There are a ton of really good bands playing the festival including The Lymbyc Systm, The Sword, Explosions in the Sky and Pinback. The festival is only $30 and it is in the same area as the Allen concrete skatepark (well, sort of). Possible roadtrip for anyone who likes good music and riding BMX.

Also, yesterday was the TBC BBQ ramp/street session. It was a BLAST. There was a great turnout, a good vibe and the weather even held out. Good times all around. I even pulled off one of the greatest upsets in sports history when I defeated Michael Allen in a game of 1-on-1 basketball. A final shot from behind the arc secured my victory and my place in the Hall of Fame.

Garret Guilliams Summer Re-cap

So Garret Guilliams sent me a little email about his summer adventures. If you check the site regularly you know the guy has been getting around. Good to see someone taking advantage of the time away from school and work. Here's Garret's summer re-cap:

"OOOOOOH MAN! Where do I start?! Haha..I guess the beginning of the summer would be a good start.

So the first month of Summer really wasn't all that eventful, just a lot of lawn care and STL riding (which is ALWAYS good).

But the end of June came around and Me and my boy John Hasselhoff started our GINCH&HAASE tour. We left STL and went to Indianapolis, then to Columbus, then to Cleveland (Chenga 1.5 is off the hook!) Props to Juicer and Cico for being awesome!

After Cleveland we went to Rochester, NY. Rochester OWNS! We stayed there for almost 2 weeks at the MethMansion, or I guess what is now the BonePIT! It's a 3 story house full of bike riders! The Twins, Jay Roe, Tom Dillon, Mary-Jay-Danny, BIG Steve, Mighty Matt! We were either riding or just gettin' buck nutty every day. It was amazing. T-Hamlin was always there as well, shreddin' life! Love it. After the stay there, I'm really considering moving over there. It's that good.

After Rochester we went to Woodward. Eeehh... not much to say about that place. The hangin' out is GGRREEEAAT, and the swimmin' is even better. The riding... not so good. Too many football players there (inside joke I guess). So we were there 3 weeks too long. But in between the stay over there I went to Binghamton, NY for the FBM Belmar contest. Nothing short of FULL BLOWN AMAZING. During that weekend I got put on the FBM flow team (beyond stoked!). So much thanks goes out to FBM for everything they've done already for me.

FBM's newest flow rider- look at that smile.

After the contest and the stay at Woodward me and John split up and I went off to NJ and did a riding show with Lil' Jon and the Division/Harley Davidson crew at the Warped Tour. Then me and Jon went back to Rochester, then back to Binghamton. Stayed with the Corts Bros. and The Gang(I love all of them!) and then went to Louisville. Stayed there with Leland for about a week. THINGS ARE CONSTANTLY GOIN' DOWN OVER THERE! Dance parties! We met up with Baby G (Adam Ginch) and rode 'till the sun could shine no more! THEN! We came back to STL......And this is where I am today."

There you go kids, that's what is called "living the dream".

If anyone else out there has some news for me hit me up on that electronic mail (bmxman187(at)hotmail.com). Until next time hang loose.

Adam Guilliams Summer Recap

Here's a little summer recap with Adam Guilliams:

Summer started off with a bang. The first day off of school me and two of my friends made a fake commercial for a gym. And then later that night me and Garrett went to a roller skating birthday party for a few fellow riders.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Of course, everyday was amazing, sleep in and ride is pretty much how it went. I rode with my brother and my friends every day but once Garrett left I rode with my friend Nick Blaylock a lot. (in the picture below)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Me and Nick on and off our bikes had an amazing time together. Time and time again we found ourselves in situations you just can't help laugh about. One actually happened tonight just a few hours ago. This is a pretty good example. Nick felt it was a good idea to climb this.

We rode ramp riders a lot and other various spots close to my house. (including my backyard dirt-spine)

Late July I went to Burly Jam with my friends Carl and Justin. Justin is one of my absolute favorite people to ride with. Guaranteed laughing and smiling the whole time. Anyways, burly jam was an amazing time. I ended up taking 4th. It was super fun. I recommend everyone go next year.

Garrett eventually returned with good friend Little Jon. He stayed here for about a week and then we took him home. On the way to Milwaukee we rode Springfield Il which has an amazing concrete park.

The trip to Milwaukee was really good and I got watch some of my favorite riders ride(Tony Malouf, Little Jon, Garrett...etc).

So thats pretty much an outline of my summer. Tomorrow is my last day before school.

Good to see the Ginches getting out there and making it happen. Speaking of making it happen, Jon Rogers sent me this flyer for a BBQ at the Iowa St. ramp. Jon has a lot of new TBC stuff in the works, and with school starting up on Monday this is a good chance for you to pick up some fresh new threads to impress the ladies (or fellas if that's your thing).

Come on over, bring some food to throw on the grill and have some BMX fun.

Garret Guilliams is EVERYWHERE

As if he wasn't on enough websites, Garret Guilliams has popped up again on the KINK website. It seems that the Guilliams brothers are on a roadtrip with Lil' Jon. No, not shitty Atlanta rapper Lil' Jon, but Wisconsin's BMX shredder Lil' Jon.

Speaking of the Wisconsin Wonder, I got a text message that he will be coming on the next Savage South Tour. I don't know if he knows what he's getting into, but he'll find out soon enough. Pretty psyched that more and more people are planning on making the annual trip.

Lou and Geoff are supposed to be coming to BR tomorrow morning for a quick riding session. Hopefully nothing like THIS happens.

Baton Rouge Skatepark Meeting

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So it appears that it is time for us, the BMX community, to come together and help BREC and SITE development plan out the public concrete park here in Baton Rouge. I have heard a good bit of talk about this and it is definitely going to happen. Some of the rumors include:

-Breaking ground BEFORE the end of 2007 (the original plan was to start construction in the first quarter of 2008

-SITE development is known for building some pretty CRAZY STUFF. One of the main concerns that BREC has is the pad rule. According to some people I've talked to, BREC and SITE are willing to build some pretty big stuff, but there will need to be a mandatory pad rule if large bowl will be built. I have heard this will be one of the main focus points for the meeting.

I encourage everyone to make it out to the meeting on Tuesday so BREC and SITE know there is a huge BMX community here in Baton Rouge. Please repost this on myspace or facebook to help spread the word.

Alaska

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So I was digging through the 50 or so tapes in my room when I found a video I edited around this time last year. Instead of going to PA last summer to ride trails with Louis and Geoff I went to Alaska to visit my girlfriend (she was working in Denali National Park). So instead of having a video of trails I have a video of my adventures in AK. Something different for all the Savages out there.

It may take a second to load cause it's longer than most web videos I put up. You can check it out HERE.

Pic from Allen, TX

I was scoping out www.ntxbmx.com and I found a picture from our trip to Allen, TX last weekend. I really, REALLY love that skatepark.

That's me doing a turndown in the Aster/Iowa St. shirt. Sorry there aren't any other piics, but big thanks to Jeric from Allen for shooting this picture. I also ran into him about 10 minutes later and felt like a complete asshole.

Still no date set for the Jackson, MS trail jam. Waiting on word from the bossman.

Micky Makes Lines Appear on Ramp

Micky Marshall has been doing lines on the ramp that nobody else does, so we decided to film one yesterday.

That was the transfer from the vertwall to the lil tranny, gap into the spine, opposite pocket air, transfer from Pantera to the spine. All in one run. Every time.

News

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates but things have been busy around here. I found out that I am allergic to the wood I made my desk out of so I haven't been in my room on the computer for the last 2 weeks.

Here are some pics from Beckmeyer. Savages all over the place!

Here are Aster Street's finest, Lil Pat, Cody Miller and Micky Marshall. Micky, Pat and I took a weekend trip to Allen, TX this past weekend. The riding was great, the weather was less humid and the driving was no sweat. At least until the last hour on the way home. We sort of got caught up in an accident about an hour away from BR. Click the link to read about the wreck. Pretty brutal stuff.

Here's a pic of one of the most famous ass-cracks in BMX- none other than Garret Guilliams. This ass-crack has been featured on the FBM site, various Savage South video clips and the JoMoPro video on VitalBMX.com. Anyone wanting to sponsor Garret's crack can contact the crack on sponsorhouse.com.

Finally, here's an actual riding pic of Micky and Geoff at Jackson's 51 ditch. Notice how Micky's bike is holding onto him for dear life. He puts that thing through some wild stuff but it always manages to pull through.

Word on the street is a dirt jumping jam will be going down in Jackson, MS sometime before the end of summer. I even heard a rumor there was going to be a flyer made for the jam. I don't know though, still haven't seen any flyers on the internet. Probably just a rumor.
